The American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges, established in 1974, is the only organization exclusively devoted to
providing a national forum for the improvement of mathematics education in the first two years of college. AMATYC is committed to
the following mission:
 | To positively impact the preparation of scientifically and technologically literate citizens. |
 | To lead the development and implementation of curricular, pedagogical, assessment, and professional standards for mathematics
in the first two years of college. |
 | To assist in the preparation and continuing professional development of a quality mathematics faculty that is diverse with
respect to ethnicity and gender. |
 | To provide a network for communication, policy determination, and action among faculty, other professional organizations,
accrediting associations, governing agencies, industry, and the public sector. |
AMATYC sponsors a national conference each fall as well as regional conferences and summer institutes. The AMATYC Review, the
official journal of AMATYC, is published twice annually and provides the community with scholarly articles pertinent to two-year
teaching. The AMATYC News is published three times annually. AMATYC works with forty-four state and provincial affiliate organizations in the U.S. and Canada to form a leadership pool and information network that is dedicated to meeting the challenges facing two-year college mathematics education. |
