ASA’s commitment is to provide the link between the profession of statistics and the society it serves. ASA’s 16,000 members here and abroad serve in industry, academia, and government agencies, both nationally and internationally.

Through subject area Sections and professional experiences, members apply their expertise to diverse and vital areas including the following:

  • Environmental risk
  • Development of therapeutic drugs
  • Research in medicine
  • Quality assurance in industry
  • Examination of social issues
  • Economic forecasting and analytic research in business
  • Expansion of statistical methods and computer and graphics applications

ASA publishes nine journals, a combined CD-ROM for all Joint Statistical Meetings proceedings, the Current Index to Statistics, a variety of subject area Section newsletters and geographic area Chapter newsletters, a monthly membership magazine, Amstat News, two general interest magazines, CHANCE and STATS, brochures, career information, and other outreach publications.
