The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, a non-profit professional association, is the world’s largest organization dedicated to the improvement of mathematics education in elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, two-year colleges, and teacher education schools. Founded in 1920, NCTM conducts professional meetings and conferences, publishes a variety of journals, newsletters, books and reports targeted at different levels of mathematical teaching.
The organization serves as a major communication center for the mathematics education community. Information concerning curriculum standards and assessment, careers in mathematics, teaching methods and study techniques, tests and contests, enrichment and professional development are all an integral part of NCTM’s goal.
